Snow and ice made the streets slippery and people hurried to get inside to escape the chill. Outside of TD Banknorth Garden, there was no mistaking it was February in New England.

But later that night inside the Garden, it felt like June as the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics turned up the heat in an intense, Finals-level battle. But unlike last June, this time the Lakers were the ones celebrating at midcourt.

Showing a grittiness, a toughness and an edge they either weren't capable of or were reluctant to show during last year's Finals, the Lakers planted their feet, stood their ground and struck back at the Celtics with a hard-fought 110-109 overtime win (Recap | Box Score).

The Lakers are now 5-0 on their current six-game road trip, and in sweeping the season series from Boston, secured the tiebreaker against the Celtics in the race for home-court advantage in the postseason. The Lakers also snapped a double-digit Celtics' winning streak -- again. On Christmas in L.A., the Lakers brought the Celtics' franchise-record 19-game streak to a screeching halt. Thursday night, Boston's streak stopped at 12.

For the Lakers, this win was impressive and important on many levels. So far, they have weathered the loss of Andrew Bynum. The Lakers have also conquered their grueling schedule as this victory came on the second night of a back-to-back and third in four nights.
LAKERS 110, CELTICS 109 (OT)
The Lakers on Thursday night snapped the Celtics' 12-game win streak, securing the league's best record:
Highlights | Box Score | Recap | Postgame Interview: Kobe Bryant
• Thomas: Rivalry remains solid

Physically, they matched the Celtics blow-for-blow. During a pause in the action early in the first half, Kevin Garnett and Pau Gasol went cheek-to-cheek and looked as if they were doing an angry dance while whispering sweet expletives in each other's ears. In the second half, the refs assessed two sets of double technical fouls.

"It's a physical game," said Paul Pierce, last year's Finals MVP, "but you have to come to expect that. Two of the top teams in the NBA battling for the best record in the league. You have to come to expect that type of game."

Yes, you expect that type of game from the Celtics, but not from the Lakers, who seemed to wilt when confronted with the Celtics' intensity last year. Not this time, as Kobe Bryant noted that his squad showed maturity it didn't have in the past.

"I think the growth that we had from last year to this year," Bryant said, "when they went on those 8-0 runs, we kept our poise. Last year, 8-0 runs turned into a 15-2 run.

"That's something we couldn't weather and I think we've grown tremendously in our execution and our poise."

Bryant's assessment proved to be astute. On three occasions in the second half, the Celtics appeared as if they were going to run away with the game. But each time, the Lakers answered with a 3-pointer. Derek Fisher's trey cut Boston's lead to 59-53 early in the third quarter. Late in the third, Jordan Farmar nailed one to slice Boston's lead to 79-74. In the fourth, the Celtics took a five-point lead, their largest of the fourth quarter, only to have Lamar Odom shave it to two with another 3-pointer, one of nine the Lakers made.

And then there was Bryant, who had been brilliant in New York on Monday with 61 points and in Toronto on Wednesday with 36. He was far from great on Thursday, going 10-for-29 from the field, but he was great when the Lakers needed him most: in crunch time. He hit three 3-pointers in a span of four minutes, the last giving the Lakers a 101-100 advantage with 1:30 to go in regulation.

"I shot the ball like crap for three-and-a-half quarters," Bryant said, "which is funny because that's how the game goes. You miss 15-footers and all of a sudden you knock down 25-footers.

"I knew when I have games like this, from experience, that down the stretch, those long shots tend to fall, and the easy ones don't."

Psychologically, the Lakers exorcised the demons of last year's Game 6 39-point defeat.

"It was very important, mentally," Gasol said. "For us to come into this building and play the way we played and battled the way we battled tonight.

"We should be proud and it should be an example of how we should play every night."

If the Lakers can follow Gasol's advice, then they are the team to beat in the NBA.

Meanwhile, this game showed that the defending champs have no room for error. Kevin Garnett returned after missing two games with the flu, but fouled out with 4:22 in regulation. The Celtics may have been able to survive without K.G. against Minnesota and in Philly against the Sixers, but they couldn't do it against the Lakers.

Therein lies the difference between this year's Celtics and last year's. They lack depth and experience, and in turn their young bench may not be capable of coming through in crunch time. Teams will leave second-year forward Glenn "Big Baby" Davis to attempt wide open 15-footers. And why not, when he misses seven of the eight he takes. It may have been a different story if the Celtics could have turned to a vet as they did James Posey or P.J. Brown last season.

However, the one Celtic who could hit those 15-footers late was sitting on the bench in warmups with a towel wrapped around his head.

"It was very tough to watch," Garnett said. "More than anything, it's frustrating. I never like to miss any games. I've always said if I can walk, I can play. It tells you what kind of days I had.

"We're not here to talk about me, we're here to talk about how we let a good opportunity slip."

As for wanting another opportunity to take on the Lakers again, Garnett left no doubt.

"Hell, yeah," he said, "we're the champs, right?"

For now, yes. But if the Celtics aren't careful, they could get a good look at the Lakers doing a victory dance at Staples Center in June. As for the Lakers, they will spend the next 36 hours in Boston before flying to Cleveland for a game Sunday against LeBron James and the Cavaliers. In that time, they can revel in the fact they are the best basketball team on the planet.

Well, until Sunday at least.

West Dominates East in Las Vegas
->Kobe Bryant poured in a game-high 31 points to earn the second All-Star MVP award of his career.

West 153, East 132
LAS VEGAS, Feb. 18 (AP) -- Viva Kobe Bryant and the best of the West.

Bryant, Carmelo Anthony & crew lit up the Strip with their own version of Showtime, romping past LeBron James and the East 153-132 Sunday night in the NBA All-Star game.

An event that some locals called the biggest thing to hit Las Vegas featured showgirls, acrobats, magicians and Elvis impersonators.

Then it was time for Bryant and his teammates to take over in the first All-Star game outside an NBA city.

"I think we had a little flair, a little Vegas in there,'' West forward Shawn Marion said. "Hopefully the fans enjoyed it a lot.''

Bryant scored 31 points, had six of the West's record 52 assists and was picked as the MVP. Amare Stoudemire added 29 points for the West, which quickly built a big lead and held it this time, a year after blowing a 21-point cushion in a loss in Houston.

Anthony, a late addition to the team, scored 20 points and Marion, who played at the Thomas & Mack Center at UNLV, added 18.

James scored 28 points for the East, and Dwight Howard had 20 points and 12 rebounds. The East barely shot 40 percent through three quarters in a game that isn't known for its defensive intensity before a late flurry during garbage time.

"We got here at 2 o'clock,'' Shaquille O'Neal said. "There's a lot of stretching and standing around. We were all kind of stiff, so the game was a little lopsided. But that's OK, they came here to see a show and they got a show.''

Dwyane Wade had only 10 points on 5-of-12 shooting, but he had reason to be tired after hosting events Thursday and Friday night. Those were two of the many functions that kept the players out until all hours of the night.

Still, the game was secondary to the show in this most unusual of All-Star games - and it was quite a show.

With tickets unavailable to the public, brokers were asking more than $20,000 for a top seat. Jay-Z, Beyonce, Diddy, Prince, Eva Longoria and Adam Sandler were among those who scored spots in the front row, and Christina Aguilera and Toni Braxton performed at halftime.

The event started with a celebrity red carpet, where Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman, flanked as usual by his showgirls and backed by entertainer Wayne Newton, vowed again to get the NBA here full-time with a new arena to play in.

Magicians Siegfried and Roy then welcomed the fans to Las Vegas, before introducing the showgirls who escorted Newton out to the stage for a performance of "Viva Las Vegas.'' After the East All-Stars were introduced, Newton took the stage again for another performance before the West players were announced.

After another Las Vegas entertainer, Danny Gans, sang the national anthem, it was finally time for some basketball - after about a 45-minute pregame.

Perhaps that took its toll on the players. There were missed dunks and passes thrown out of bounds by both teams, but the East was by far the worst. They missed seven of their first nine shots, including a blown dunk attempt by O'Neal.

James later almost injured himself when he tried to throw himself a pass off the backboard and tumbled over another player, and Jermaine O'Neal appeared to tip in a basket for the West.

A first-quarter timeout brought out some performers from a show at the Tropicana, but there was a serious moment at the end of the period when Bill Russell was among the former Boston Celtics who took the court with the daughter of Red Auerbach, who died last year.

The West led 39-31 at the end of one, and quickly pushed that lead into double digits in the second quarter - Shaquille O'Neal missed another dunk during that stretch.

The lead ballooned to 23 when Bryant nailed a 3-pointer and followed with a dunk on the next possession, and the West was up 79-59 at halftime.

Bryant had 17 points at halftime and Anthony added 12. James scored 16 for the East, but none of its other players was in double figures.

The East climbed out of a 21-point deficit to win last year's game in Houston, but didn't show nearly the fight this time. Stoudemire fueled a 10-0 run that made it 95-65 with 8:20 remaining in the third quarter, and the West was up by 31 heading to the fourth.

Rolling Star Lyrics
Performed by: Yui

Most fans are used to seeing Josh Holloway looking all sweaty and grimy as his character, castaway con man Sawyer Ford, struggles to survive on ABC's "Lost."
So it's a little surreal to see the tall, lanky actor settling into his chair in the bar of this luxury Southern California hotel. For starters, he has traded in his grotty island togs for a stylish all-black ensemble of slacks, leather jacket and a scarf around his neck -- partly because a freakish cold snap has turned the air outside chilly enough to accommodate that "Lost" polar bear.
The main thing, though, is that Holloway looks so -- well, clean.
The 37-year-old actor bursts into good-natured laughter when an interviewer asks him to start dishing the dirt - specifically, just how filthy he and his castmates have to get for their roles in the Emmy-winning ABC Wednesday drama series.
"We come to the set clean in the morning, I promise, freshly showered, and to be honest, that's the difficult part of the morning routine," Holloway says. "I mean, normally an actor goes to a makeup trailer to get fixed up. We go there to get destroyed. Then they bring out what they call 'the hero shirt,' the one with all the dried blood and the gunk and it stands up by itself. You put it on and it's just kinda nasty, because they can't wash it for reasons of continuity.... Perrineau will play the main character's long-time confidante, a friend since seminary.
According to the industry trades, "Demons" is in first position on Perrineau's slate, which would limit the "Lost" producers in their ability to resolve Michael's story arc any further.
The "Oz" and "Smoke" star has used his "Lost" downtime to shoot a trio of features in "Your Name Here," "Gardens of the Night" and the zombie-tastic sequel "28 Weeks Later." Have u ever seen a Lady in white? Someone possessed by an evil spirit maybe?

Well I haven't. To see is to believe ayt?

Anyways a friend lend me her copy of the TV series supernatural, its a story about 2 brothers trying to find their missing father and got stumbled into some adventurous ordeal... well how will I say it.. vanquish evil or confused spirits...

Since I just a little boy... got this theory that spirits really exists, I haven't seen them yet but I have this feeling that they are there just watching us... well anyways enough about my boyish fanatics, what i like about this TV series is that in every episode they feature a chick whether she maybe a ghost or a victim I still kept my eyes open for lapses in the footage (for eg: peeking for more skins while they take a bath or dive in the lake a very dark lake to be precise) hehe... what a jerk.... I'm becoming a movie pervert.. hehehe anyways. here's the plot of the story.. courtesy of wiki.... ehehehe

Plot

When Sam Winchester was an infant and his brother Dean was four years old, their mother, Mary, was murdered on November 2, 1983 (All Souls' Day in the Roman Catholic Church). Her husband, John, saw blood dripping onto Sam's cradle, looked up, and found his wife pinned to the ceiling, her midsection sliced open. A moment later, she burst into flames. John told Dean to take baby Sam outside and made a desperate and futile attempt to save his wife while the house was consumed by flames.

Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki, left) and older brother Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles, right).

After a psychic told John that a demon was responsible for Mary's death, he became obsessed with finding and destroying it. He trained his sons to recognize and defend themselves against paranormal entities. Sam and Dean became resourceful sleuths and competent fighters in order to assist their father in his quest to destroy dangerous creatures and find the demon that had killed Mary. However, Sam chafed against the lifestyle his father chose for him, eventually falling-out with his father and leaving to live a "normal" life. He attended Stanford University on a full scholarship and lived with a girlfriend, Jessica, in an apartment near campus. But when Dean appears one night during the autumn of his senior year, bearing the news that their father has gone missing while on a "hunting trip," Sam reluctantly agrees to help Dean look for their father.

The brothers trace John to Jericho, California, where they find more clues about their father's location and help solve a murder mystery. However, Sam declines his brother's invitation to continue the search and conduct more hunts, opting instead to return to his life with Jessica. Unfortunately, shortly after arriving in his apartment, he finds her pinned to the bedroom ceiling, bleeding from the abdomen. As Sam watches helplessly, she bursts into flames and dies in the same manner as his mother. Dean rescues his brother from the burning apartment, and the bereaved Sam decides to resume the search for the demon who killed his mother and his girlfriend. The Winchester boys then pick up the trail of clues leading to the whereabouts of their missing father.

Eventually the brothers locate him, and he reveals the extent of his knowledge of the demon that killed Mary, and his intention to kill it. At first he opposes the boys' involvement because he fears losing them, but eventually he yields and all three Winchesters, now in possession of a gun that can kill any being, band together and start to hunt the demon in earnest. However, due to a series of catastrophic events (beginning with John's capture), they are eventually overpowered by the demon, who, while possessing John, nearly tortures Dean to death before Sam can shoot him in the leg with the Colt. Sam tries to rush Dean and John to the hospital, but a demon strikes again, totaling the Impala and leaving all three Winchesters incapacited. While in the hospital, John makes a deal to save comatose Dean, trading the Colt along with his own life. Both Dean and Sam struggle to cope with John's death while trying to continue their job.

I recently visited gamespot.com Short answer: sort of. But, it isn't as simple as some recent television shows or movies make it seem. In these shows a detective will deduce a person is being untruthful simply because they looked to the left or right while making a statement.

In reality, it would be foolish to make such a snap judgment without further investigation... but the technique does have some merit. So, here it is... read, ponder and test it on your friends and family to see how reliable it is for yourself.

Visual Accessing Cues

The first time "Visual Accessing Cues" were discussed (at least to my knowledge), was by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in their book "Frogs into Princes: Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) " From their experiments this is what they found:

When asked a question a "normally organized" right-handed person looks (from your viewpoint, looking at them):

Up and to the Left
Indicates: Visually Constructed Images (Vc)
If you asked someone to "Imagine a purple buffalo", this would be the direction their eyes moved in while thinking about the question as they "Visually Constructed" a purple buffalo in their mind.

Up and to the Right
Indicates: Visually Remembered Images (Vr)
If you asked someone to "What color was the first house you lived in?", this would be the direction their eyes moved in while thinking about the question as they "Visually Remembered" the color of their childhood home.

To the Left
Indicates: Auditory Constructed (Ac)
If you asked someone to "Try and create the highest the sound of the pitch possible in your head", this would be the direction their eyes moved in while thinking about the question as they "Auditorily Constructed" this this sound that they have never heard of.

To the Right
Indicates: Auditory Remembered (Ar)
If you asked someone to "Remember what their mother's voice sounds like ", this would be the direction their eyes moved in while thinking about the question as they "Auditorily Remembered " this sound.

Down and to the Left
Indicates: Feeling / Kinesthetic (F)
If you asked someone to "Can you remember the smell of a campfire? ", this would be the direction their eyes moved in while thinking about the question as they used recalled a smell, feeling, or taste.

Down and To the Right
Indicates: Internal Dialog (Ai)
This is the direction of someone eyes as they "talk to themselves".

The Gist of it...

How this information is used to detect lies:
Example: Let's say your child ask's you for a cookie, and you ask them "well, what did your mother say?" As they reply "Mom said... yes." they look to the left. This would indicate a made up answer as their eyes are showing a "constructed image or sound. Looking to the right would indicated a "remembered" voice or image, and thus would be telling the truth.

UPDATE on LOST

Lost is back pips.

From now on, I will be posting stuff related to the most awaited TV series entitled Lost, and on their 3rd season, these guys reveals it all,

the things that people were asking about on the first airing of LOST SEASON 1 episode one are now answered but the storyline got more

interesting for these so called others are living on the same island like villagers, like what we saw on the film by M. Night Shyamalan "The
VIllage" where people are living on a secluded area and with no contact with the outside world.

Episode 1 entitled

"A Tale of Two Cities ",

The episode begins with the "Lost" eyeball, which is the only thing in the first few minutes that offers any clue we're watching "Lost."
(damn right! I taught I was watching Desperate Housewives but then again this gives people ideas that Im watching it but Im not, anyways back
to the topic at hand), The eye that Im talking about belong to Elizabeth Mitchell

(who will play as santa clause's wife on the upcomming The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause, here on Lost she played the character of Juliet

the woman who well,... I don't really know what is her position here with the others but she has this shriek figure and she knew the lives of

survivors and she uses her charm to talk to their awaited guests...especially with Jack), so right then she was putting a disk then music

played, it was

Downtown by Tony Hatch... |she had this odd

look on her face, Im not quite sure if she had woken up on the right side of the bed or did she fell from it, anyways after the music played

she got ramped up, but then a beeping sound from the oven broke her concentration, only knowing her cookies were burnt.... she really had had

woken up on the floor if you asked me... then she went outside.. was greeted by her neighbor and it seemed like she was living on a normal

subdivision, until then a strong and shakening sound from the ground and from above sturtled them, when they went to see outside to see what

it was, they saw a plane crashing down and had broken up in two, now I told myself ahh... that was the plane that Jack, and the others were
on that crashed to this mysterious island. suddennly Ben (Henry Gale)

was there (the one that they had captured the leader of these so called others) and he started people orders like to act like survivors and

such... the first scene showed that the others were merely living on this island quite realistically (if this is the word, someone must

correct me on this but this is what my mind is telling me to use anyways am I getting side tracked here or what) on this remote island like

for God knows how long and what they are doing here.

Now Thats one good way to start a season... more questions.... hahahaha...

Anyways the question now is what happend to Jack, Kate and Sawyer?

Hmm.... pretty good question ei.. hehehe

The answer? Well lets start with our good looking doctor JAck...

Jack, doctor and surgeon Jack, woke up from a flashback scene of his X wife, now Im pretty quite used to the style of LOST where flashbacks

of the lives of the characters, this time it was Jack's, it showed how desperate and paranoid he was when he knew that his wife was meeting

another guy, the odd part is he taught his father had an affair with his X wife which is pretty much ironic,

he was so paranoid that he even accused his father of such, when the only thing that his father is doing is helping him stand up to his feet.

So back to Jack's awakening... he found himself in a dark cellar, I taught it was a cellar, I couln't say it was a room also, it looked more

like a torture chamber, but the truth is was an old aquarium where dolphins and sharks were studied in the Pharma institute or what it used

to be. The first thing he immidiately noticed was his arm, it had this band aid on it, looks like he was drugged or somthing, did I mention

that the room was locked?, and it has this viewing fiber glass wall that Jack was face smacked cause he couldn't see it and he repeatedly

kicked hoping he could smash it but to no avail.

Lets switch to what happend to Kate and Sawyer... Kate woke up with the sound of water comming from a shower... then a man entered (an old

hag to be precise.. hehhe no offense) and instructed her to take a shower, how accomodating ei... they were abducted and now would a hot

shower with clean towels, shampoo's and a cute dress can ease off Kate's anger? hmmmm.. I don't think so.. but ei. Kate shed more skin here

than usual, she's a damn damsel in dress if you ask me.. anyways.. she was then brought to the beach, where a cottage of breakfast awaits

her, but hey... Henry Gale was there who woulnd't be surprised... hehehhe she was offered breakfast but with a pair of hand cuffs on her hand

that Henry politely ordered to place it on by herself... but breakfast did not go well as planned for the... so to the cage Kate... onward

march! hhehe I'm fooling around with you.. they were not marching but.. the cage thinggy its real, Sawyer was even there to comfort her,

hmmmmm.. not the appropriate word to use.... fish biscuits is not what I had in mind in saying she was comforted... hehehe Yes ladies and

gentlemen... Fish biscuits.. for the bears actually for the cages that they were in were for bears(polar bears to be exact)... hehhe... did I

say that they are not in the same cage.. but it doesn't relly matter does it? Well Sawyer woke up on the weirdest place ever... He was in a

cage for "bears". quote and quote hehhe.. but ei this cage has cool features it has this built-in puzzle thinggy and when Sawyer figure it

out.. actually solved the puzzle, waaaalla!!!". fish biscuits and some feeds awaits for the hungry Sawyer. poor Sawyer. hahaha...

some cool trick to eat breakfast don't cha think...Hmm.. were you wondering whether they ever tried to escape?

Well they did, lets start with Jack.... Remember Juliet? she offered Jack breakfast but Jack was not so cooperative so, when she entered the

room Jack rushed towards her and emmidiately held her as a hostage...

and tried to escape by opening a hatch not knowing what is behind door number one is running water(I think the aquarium was under water so

that explains where the water was comming from)... so after Jack and Juliet tried to close the door to stop the water from comming in, a

punch to the face by our lovely Juliet messed up his escape plan... As for Sawyer, he got out of his cage alright with the with help of this

boy(teenager) that was in other cage, but again... he was caught by no other than Juliet herself again well Juliet saves the day again...

whoohhheh,

then she stung him with her electric gun. hehehe pretty amusing to to see that Sawyer's thing with women gets him everytime... so back to the

cage naughty Sawyer... hehhehe maybe you will master the art of getting fish biscuits Sawyer hehehe... Whitney's Why Does It Hurt So Bad.

Yova did a stellar performance, everybody loved his voice, sullen to say its a shame that some people cannot accept his gender, especially in a country like ours where so much discrimination for his kind exist.

Well some people also think he has a chance in this so called quest for fame, a competitive encounter type='text'>

Too bad for Nicolas Cage, this time the movie he was in was rated so badly, tsk tsk tsk.. here is one of the many film reviews who underated the movie The wicker man.

When attempting what is often deemed the most unnecessary of cinematic projects, the remake, a filmmaker can adopt a nearly identical plot but still generate an inferior product. Such is the case with Neil LaBute and The Wicker Man. LaBute isn't a hack director. He chooses his projects carefully and has an impressive resume that lists a group of smart, challenging pictures, but nowhere has he gone more wrong than in his misguided attempt to modernize Anthony Shaffer's 1973 screenplay. Despite retaining significant chunks of Shaffer's dialogue to go along with the basic story structure, LaBute has transformed the eerie, disturbing psychological thriller into an unintentional comedy. At times, The Wicker Man is hilariously bad. When this isn't the result of LaBute's ill-advised "enhancements" to the original tale, it's caused by absurd new lines or Nicolas Cage's bumbling attempts to step into Edward Woodward's shoes.
--A Film Review by James Berardinelli

Wanna walk on a Treadmill?

hehehe here are the things you can do with 4 guys 8 treadmills and one camera. :) enjoy

You, Me And Owen Wilson....

Watched this movie last sunday and kate Hudson was just just just.. wow.. so amazing
just look at these photos.. the 27 year old blondie was just B E A U T I F U L... hehehe im
exaggerating... but please watch the movie.. owen wilson was at his peak in acting. Irwin was filming an underwater documentary at the time.

Ambulance officers confirmed they attended a reef fatality Monday morning off Port Douglas, according to Australian media.

Queensland Police Services also confirmed Irwin's death and said his family had been notified. More specifically, it facilitates a manageable way to separate application logic and content from its presentation. This is best described in a situation where the application programmer and the template designer play different roles, or in most cases are not the same person.

Crash Course

For those of you who have used PHP template engines, the basic concepts of Smarty should look quite familiar. In your PHP application you assign variables for use in the template, then you display it.
index.php

include('Smarty.class.php');
// create object
$smarty = new Smarty;
// assign some content. This would typically come from
// a database or other source, but we'll use static
// values for the purpose of this example.
$smarty->assign('name', 'george smith');
$smarty->assign('address', '45th & Harris');
// display it
$smarty->display('index.tpl');

The template file then contains the output interspersed with tags that Smarty replaces with assigned content.
index.tpl

Name: {$name}
Address: {$address}
Output

html
head
titleUser Info
/head
body
User Information:

Name: george smith

Address: 45th & Harris

/body
/html

As you can see, Smarty cleanly separates your presentation elements (HTML, CSS, etc.) from your application code. However, it does not necessarily separate logic entirely from your templates. With respect to Smarty's design principles, so long as the logic in the templates is for presentation only, it is permissible to use it. For instance, looping over table row colors or including one template from another would be considered presentation logic. This is something the application should not need to accomodate (it just supplies an array of data.) The idea is to keep the template designer role and application programming role separated. You should be able to completely tear down the templates and rebuild them without touching the code base, all while retaining full control of the presentation. With this comes an important point: there is nothing stopping you from putting application logic in the template. Smarty has more than enough power to let you shoot yourself in the foot, so you must have some self discipline in this respect. Don't worry though, with a little bit of practice it becomes quite self-evident what logic belongs where.

Quick install

Windows users may want to follow this install guide

This is a simple guide to get Smarty setup and running quickly. The online
documentation includes a very thorough explanation of a Smarty installation.
This guide is meant to be a quick and painless way of getting Smarty working,
and nothing more. The guide assumes you are familiar with the UNIX system
environment. Windows users will need to make adjustments where necessary.

INSTALL SMARTY LIBRARY FILES

Copy the Smarty library files to your system. In our example, we place them in
/usr/local/lib/php/Smarty/

$> cd YOUR_DOWNLOAD_DIRECTORY
$> gtar -zxvf Smarty-2.6.7.tar.gz
$> mkdir /usr/local/lib/php/Smarty
$> cp -r Smarty-2.6.7/libs/* /usr/local/lib/php/Smarty

You should now have the following file structure:

/usr/local/lib/php/Smarty/
Config_File.class.php
debug.tpl
internals/
plugins/
Smarty.class.php
Smarty_Compiler.class.php

SETUP SMARTY DIRECTORIES

You will need four directories setup for Smarty to work. These files are for
templates, compiled templates, cached templates and config files. You may or
may not use caching or config files, but it is a good idea to set them up
anyways. It is also recommended to place them outside of the web server
document root. The web server PHP user will need write access to the cache and
compile directories as well.

In our example, the document root is /web/www.domain.com/docs and the
web server username is "nobody". We will keep our Smarty files under
/web/www.domain.com/smarty

$> cd /web/www.domain.com
$> mkdir smarty
$> mkdir smarty/templates
$> mkdir smarty/templates_c
$> mkdir smarty/cache
$> mkdir smarty/configs
$> chown nobody:nobody smarty/templates_c
$> chown nobody:nobody smarty/cache
$> chmod 775 smarty/templates_c
$> chmod 775 smarty/cache

How do I import a MySQL dumpfile into my database?

After you have dumped out your data into a file as described here, FTP or scp that dump file to the home directory (/) on our system.

Once you have uploaded the dump file to your account here, get a shell prompt on our system using telnet or ssh.

Now import the dump file into MySQL by typing all the following on 1 single line at the shell prompt:

mysql -p -h DBSERVER dbname < dbname.sql

The above assumes that your database name on our system is "dbname" and the dumpfile that you uploaded was named "dbname.sql". After you provide the right password, you will have a file in your current directory called DBNAME.sql containing your entire database.

You'll need to get this file moved onto our system by either 1) FTP'ing it down to your own computer and then uploading it from there to your account on our system, or, 2) by moving the file directly from the host to your account here with the 'ftp' or 'scp' command.

After you have the moved the dumpfile from the old host to your account here, follow these instructions on how to import the dump into your MySQL database running here.

Prison Break

Lincoln Burrows is on death row for the murder of the Vice President's brother. An engineer who was hired to renovate the prison where Lincoln is being held, Michael takes drastic measures to help his brother. He robs a bank and is sent to the same prison, so that with his knowledge of the building the two of them can escape together. However, the plan soon becomes more complicated than Michael intended as other prisoners find out about the plot and want to escape too. Michael also discovers a massive governmental conspiracy that is determined to see Lincoln executed when two crooked federal agents try to silence Burrows' ex-wife and son. It will feature 23 episodes that will be delivered in two blocks: an initial autumn arc of six episodes and a second run of seventeen consecutive episodes beginning in February 2007. The story will continue 65 days after the crash, and Lindelof and Carlton Cuse have planned for the coming season to focus on the Others (as led by "Henry Gale") and their history, ranks, and goals.According to executive producer Damon Lindelof, the audience will meet more survivors of the plane crash as new characters in the third season, and these new survivors' flashbacks will be featured as a unique and central component of the series (existing cast members' flashbacks will accordingly be fewer than in previous seasons).

New casts members

Kiele Sanchez

Rodrigo Santoro

Kiele Sanchez will play "Nikki" on Lost in season three -- a possible love interest for another new character that Brazilian actor Rodrigo Santoro will play, according to Variety.
